JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Mobile Recreation Supervisor, the Mobile Recreation Leader will help implement and lead daily recreational activities for children ages 5-12 attending the City of Moses Lake Mobile Recreation program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assistwithdevelopinganddirectingthe Mobile Recreation Program .
- Conductactivitiesforparticipants(schoolagechildren).
- Superviseandleadparticipantsthroughplannedactivitiessuchasarts&crafts, playground activities,games,sports,etc.
- Inventoriesallprogramsuppliesandequipmentbeforeandaftertheseason.
- Assistswithpreparing,planning,settingup/downanddecoratingthevisitingfacilitiesandassuresthattheyarereadytosafelyuse.
- Requiredtodriveandoperatethemobilevehicle.
- Maintainsrecordsincludingtimesheets,weeklyattendancereports,waivers,inventoryrecordsandaccidentreportsetc.
- Providesdirectsupervisionofyouthparticipatinginthescheduledprograms.
- Workscloselywithpartnerorganizations.
- Knowledge of children, sports, and recreational activities.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, understanding, and emotional stability.
- Ability to interact with the general public.
- Ability to interact with participants.
- Ability to get along with others and work as a member of a team.
- Ability to foster collaborative group processes and efficiently use resources.

The Recreation Supervisor assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINESGuidelines include Moses Lake Parks and Recreation policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORKThe work consists of working with youth and parents to assist in Mobile Recreation operations.
CONTACTSContacts are typically with youth participants, parents, and recreation staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT- Indoor and outdoor work environment.
- Working varied hours including mornings or evening shifts and some weekends.
- Be able to be active with children and provide clear instructions.
- Climbing ladders.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Lifting heavy objects weighing fifty (50) pounds.
- Reaching overhead and above shoulders.
- Kneeling or crouching.
- Hearing and speaking to communicate information.
- Reading and writing to communicate information.
- Seeing to monitor activities.
- Sensing hot and cold.
- Ability to swim or wade in water.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Educational background in recreation, education, or child development preferable.
- Experience interacting with children and the public is highly desirable.
- Bilingual Spanish/English is a highly preferred skill for the position.
- Current First Aid/CPR certifications are required, or willing to obtain within the first week of hire.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Required to have a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- All applicants must be able to successfully pass a background check process which includes reference checks and criminal history checks, or other.
