Body Shop Estimator

Summary

**** As a Body Shop Estimator, you will appraise vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for any insurance claim settlement. This position is also a vital part of maintaining strong service customer relationships for the dealership through accurate estimates and skilled communication.

• Pay: $50,000 - $80,000 per year

This job is full-time with hours on Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM – onsite.

• Examine damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical or interior damage.
• Estimate the cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
• Review repair cost estimates with the body shop manager or foreman.
• Determine the feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts, such as bumpers, fenders and doors.
• Evaluate the practicality of repair as opposed to payment of vehicle market value before accident.
• Prepare insurance forms to indicate repair cost estimates and recommendations.
• Estimate the cost of repainting, converting to special purposes or customizing undamaged vehicles.
• Greet and Cashier Customers.
• Handle Logistics of vehicle transfers and towing.
• Answer phone with an energetic and welcoming attitude—Give the Customer a great greeting both in person and over the phone.
• Write and close repair orders.
• Ensure the front office area has everything stocked and is clean. (Beverages, coffee, paper, etc.).
• Handle logistics of rental storage.
• Other tasks as assigned.

• Proficiency in at least one major estimating platform (CCC ONE, Mitchell, or Audatex)
• Able to write complete line-by-line estimates without supervision.
• Knowledge in OEM repair procedures and a willingness to follow manufacturer guidelines.
• A positive attitude that shows in both customer service and contributions to the team.
• Valid Driver's License required.

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• 1-3 years of hands‑on experience writing collision repair estimates in a professional body shop or collision center.
• Experience communicating directly with insurance adjustors and negotiating repair procedures and supplements.
