Inclusion Manager

FLSA Status

Exempt. The Inclusion Coordinator is a full‑time employee with hours that fluctuate to accommodate evening or weekend programs and meetings.

Hiring Pay Range

$63,000 - $69,000 (Depending on Qualifications)

Summary

The Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for the inclusion process for assigned member park districts, specifically assessment of inclusion requests and placement and supervision of part‑time inclusion staff. The Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for the organization, implementation, and evaluation of recreational programs for individuals with a disability or special needs from child to adult. This position requires the application of specialized therapeutic training to administer a broad delivery of recreation services for individuals with special needs without exclusion from activities or programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree plus knowledge and/or training in therapeutic recreation, special education, adaptive physical education, or a related field. Two (2) years full‑time experience in therapeutic recreation parks and recreation, special education, adaptive physical education, or related field. Knowledge of the recreational needs of persons with a disability without exclusion. Ability to complete NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification) or comparable certification within six (6) months of employment desired in addition to First Aid/CPR, AED, and other certifications as required.

A valid Illinois class “D” Driver’s License is required.

Essential Functions
  • Plan, conduct, oversee, implement, and evaluate and/or assist recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. This includes but is not limited to implementation of lesson plans, adaptations, behavior management strategies, and documentation including but not limited to budgeting, program evaluations, and incident reports.
  • Provide supervision of overall program, assisting staff, and participants. Participant supervision may include lifting and transferring, feeding, and other personal care. Provide physical and emotional support to children and adults with disabilities.
  • Safely transport participants of varying ages and abilities using agency vehicles.
  • Assist with agency‑wide and Foundation events.
  • Advocate for community access to recreation for individuals with disabilities.
  • Represent M‑NASR through attendance at community meetings and functions, and address schools, parents, participants, Member Agencies, and/or other service groups.
  • Adhere to all agency policy, procedure, and safety manuals by exhibiting a working knowledge of general and department‑specific rules and operations.
  • Provide timely response to communication.
  • Utilization of computer software and specific databases, specifically Microsoft Office and Rec Trac.
  • Job Specific Essential Functions
  • Under the supervision and direction of the Inclusion Manager, work as a team in coordinating, supervising, implementing, and evaluating the Inclusion services provided by M‑NASR.
  • Acts as Direct liaison of the inclusion process for 2‑3 member agencies/park districts.
    • Receiving, responding, and managing inclusion requests and ongoing issues
    • Observations at park district sites
    • Providing adaptations, behavior management tools, and resources to park district sites
    • Recruit, hire, orient, train, evaluate, and supervise Program Inclusion Assistants for the area
    • Managing staffing assignments
    • Park District/Member Agency training
    • Supervision of Member District Liaison during summer
  • Oversee meetings with member agency/park district staff & inclusion families in assigned area and troubleshoot any inclusion challenges.
  • Communicate with assigned member agency/park districts and assist with implementation of curriculum/education including regular all‑park district coordinator/superintendent meetings.
  • Interview candidates for Program Inclusion Assistants in assigned area as needed, primarily for summer staff.
  • Assist with training process of all part‑time Program Inclusion Assistants.
  • Proof and submit bi‑weekly payroll for part‑time inclusion staff in assigned area.
