Fulton County Solicitor-General’s Office Criminal Investigator
The Office of the Fulton County Solicitor-General is seeking a dedicated Criminal Investigator to support attorneys in building strong cases, assisting victims, and advancing public safety. Essential Functions:
- Lead and coordinate daily work activities; assist with training, problem solving, and providing technical expertise to co workers.
- Support Assistant Solicitors in trial preparation: review case files, develop investigative plans, execute search warrants, collect and analyze evidence, and document crime scenes.
- Identify, locate, and serve subpoenas; ensure appearance and cooperation of victims, witnesses, and defendants; coordinate travel and accommodations as needed.
- Provide secure transport and escort services for attorneys, victims, advocates, and wit-nesses during interviews, court proceedings, and crime scene visits.
- Assist and advocate for victims by providing case updates, explaining court processes, and connecting them with needed services and resources.
- Communicate and collaborate with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, court personnel, and community partners to gather information and coordinate investigative efforts.
- Conduct legal research and prepare supporting documents such as briefs, motions, complaints, accusations, and discovery.
- Prepare cases for accusation and arraignment; review evidence, criminal histories, jurisdiction, and probable cause; determine appropriate charges or diversion.
- Assist with pre-trial case resolution, including plea negotiations, mediation, and restitution documentation.
- Gather, review, and process investigative materials such as reports, lab results, phone records, financial documents, and medical records; draft investigative summaries and warrant affidavits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of investigative techniques, crime trends, and courtroom procedures; participate in ongoing training and certifications.
- Operate investigative and office equipment, including firearms, vehicles, surveillance tools, cameras, and computer software.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in criminology, criminal justice or a related field required; supplemented by five years of experience in law enforcement or investigative fields to include lead or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification
Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must possess and maintain Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Law Enforcement (BLE) Certification.
Starting Salary/
Incentives:
$68,000.00 (commensurate with experience); annual bonuses with consideration for advancement every six months.
