Overview

Job Title: Laboratory Assistant
Location: Morrisville, NC 27560
Pay rate: $15.00 - $20.00/hr
Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:00 AM – 9:00 AM (40 hours/week)

UL Solutions is seeking Laboratory Assistants to support a special project focused on wireless radio testing. This role supports senior laboratory staff by assisting with sample processing, test execution, data collection, and documentation. The position involves a mix of standing and sitting and provides hands-on exposure to laboratory testing environments, equipment, and customer-facing activities.

Job Specifications
  • Support senior laboratory staff with processing lab samples and performing tests

  • Build or adapt basic test setups and equipment for performance testing

  • Perform tests using general laboratory equipment following defined test plans and datasheets

  • Operate computer systems to input, extract, and manage test data using available software

  • Record, analyze, and explain test results accurately

  • Prepare charts, graphs, and reports to communicate test findings

  • Read and interpret test results, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational instructions

  • Examine test samples, read measuring instruments, and review test data with supervisors

  • Assist with examining customer samples and operating basic tests as instructed

  • Communicate with customers during setup and testing to ensure proper evaluation

  • Perform routine care and maintenance of test equipment and work areas

  • Record observed and calculated data on appropriate data sheets

  • Develop working knowledge of laboratory methods, instrumentation, and systems

  • Apply continuous improvement concepts in daily work

  • Follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and all physical and digital security practices

  • Perform additional duties as directed

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field

  • Understanding of laboratory information systems and laboratory equipment

  • Interest or exposure to wireless radio testing preferred

  • Ability to follow test plans, procedures, and detailed instructions

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and customers
