Overview

Job Title:
Production Technician III – Upstream Fermentation

The Production Technician III is responsible for executing cGMP manufacturing activities focused on Upstream Fermentation during the night shift. This role independently performs advanced fermentation operations, supports troubleshooting, and acts as a technical resource.

Responsibilities
  • Execute fermentation operations including media preparation, inoculation, monitoring, and harvest preparation.
  • Operate and monitor bioreactors and/or fermenters, controlling key parameters such as pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen.
  • Perform aseptic processing activities and in‑process sampling per cGMP requirements.
  • Prepare fermentation systems for operation, including setup, CIP/SIP, and changeovers.
  • Document all manufacturing activities accurately in batch records and logbooks.
  • Troubleshoot fermentation process issues and escalate deviations as required.
  • Support downstream recovery readiness and process handoffs.
  • Train and mentor junior Production Technicians.
Essential Skills
  • Advanced experience in upstream fermentation within a cGMP manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of fermentation process controls and aseptic technique.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 operations, including night shift schedules.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP documentation and production systems.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of related experience.
  • Associate’s degree in a life science discipline is preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a cGMP manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Bio Work Certificate is preferred.
Work Environment

The role requires working 12-hour shifts on a 2‑2‑3 schedule during the night shift. Physical demands include the ability to discern audible cues, perform tasks requiring 20/20 corrected vision including color distinction, and perform repetitive motions. The role involves working in environments with temperature ranges from 0°F to 100°F, and requires the ability to ascend or descend ladders, stand or sit for prolonged periods, and lift up to 33 lbs.

Respiratory protection may be required. The work environment may also include small or enclosed spaces, and heights greater than 4 feet.

This is a Contract position based out of Morrisville, NC.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
