Job Description Overview:
What you’ll do, The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for driving a culture of operational excellence through the application of Lean Manufacturing Principals. This role leads continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate is a hands-on change leader with strong Lean expertise and the ability to coach teams at all levels.
This role is onsite, 5 days per week at our Morrisville, NC offices and production facility off Interstate 40 near RDU and will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). At this time, we cannot provide work sponsorship for this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Via closely cultivated relationships with Engineering and Operations, lead and sustain lean initiatives, with a focus on productivity, 5S, quality, and process control.
- Develop, execute, and monitor continuous improvement roadmaps in alignment with organizational goals.
- Facilitate Kaizen events, Gemba walks, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis.
- Train and coach and provide leadership to employees at all levels on Lean tools, 5S standards, and problem-solving. Drive a “new way of thinking” quantitative over qualitative, actions over impediments, and process integrity over habit and history.
- Establish and track KPIs to measure process performance, waste reduction, and efficiency gains.
- Drive Lean problem-solving skills – PICK, 5Y, Fishbone, etc.
- Partner with operations, safety, quality, and maintenance teams to identify improvement opportunities.
- Standardize processes and document best practices to ensure sustainability.
- Support change management efforts and foster employee engagement in continuous improvement.
- Audit work areas regularly to ensure compliance with 5S and standard work.
- Prepare and present reports on improvement initiatives, progress, and results to leadership.
- Develop the lean implementation strategy for optimization.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, or operational excellence.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience implementing and sustaining 5S programs.
- Strong knowledge of Lean tools (Kaizen, VSM, PDCA, A3, root cause analysis).
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and coaching skills.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
- Experience in high-mix or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Experience in an on-demand production / manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and data-driven improvement.
- Experience leading cultural change initiatives.
- Prior leadership or people management experience is preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred
