A growing healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to establish, lead, and scale a mobile pharmacy operation in North Carolina. This senior leadership role reports directly to executive leadership and offers the opportunity to build pharmacy operations from the ground up while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience launching mobile, outreach, pop-up, or non-traditional pharmacy services and thrives in dynamic, mission-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge in compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations
- Lead the setup, licensing, and launch of a mobile pharmacy program
- Develop and maintain pharmacy policies and procedures aligned with regulatory and accreditation standards (including URAC)
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, DEA, FDA, and Board of Pharmacy requirements
- Oversee medication preparation, labeling, dispensing, transport, and delivery in mobile environments
- Establish secure workflows for controlled substances and mobile inventory management
- Supervise, train, and mentor pharmacists, technicians, and support staff
- Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, interactions, and contraindications
- Serve as a clinical and operational resource for providers, patients, and internal teams
- Conduct quality assurance reviews, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation for dispensing, delivery, counseling, and communications
- Support telephonic or electronic clinical assessments and follow-ups as needed
- Dedicate time to quality management activities and performance monitoring
Qualifications
- Pharm
D or BS in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited program - Minimum 5 years of pharmacy experience (retail, clinical, specialty, or managed care)
- Direct experience launching or managing a mobile, outreach, or non-traditional pharmacy program
- Strong knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations
- Proven leadership and staff management experience
- Experience with quality improvement and regulatory audits preferred
- Proficiency with pharmacy systems and technology
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and lead in evolving environments
