Radio Frequency Engineer

We are seeking an innovative RF Engineer to join our team in designing, building, and testing advanced electronic systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between mechanical design, fabrication, production, and software development. Archaius Inc. is a small venture‑backed company in RTP, NC that has developed disruptive technology for drone electronic warfare. Our mission is to give tactical teams decisive edge in contested environments.

• Design and develop advanced RF circuits and subsystems for phased arrays, transmitters, and receivers.
• Design, capture, and layout RF transceivers and high‑speed mixed‑signal PCBs.
• Work with matching networks, filters, LNAs, mixers, VGAs, PLLs/synthesizers, and VCOs.
• Apply best practices for EMI/RFI control and troubleshoot interference issues during design and test.
• Build and test prototypes using signal generators, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, power meters, and noise figure meters.
• Support integration of RF and microwave assemblies into drones and related systems.
• Analyze field performance data, identify root causes of performance issues, and implement corrective design actions.
• Collaborate with firmware engineers to define and validate embedded interfaces and control loops.

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of RF design experience from concept through production.
• Strong understanding of impedance matching, Smith charts, IP3, IMD, phase noise, and harmonic distortion.
• Proficiency with PCB CAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Hands‑on experience with RF test equipment and prototype bring‑up.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status.

• Experience with antenna design or characterization.
• Familiarity with Altium Designer.
• Experience debugging EMI/EMC issues at board and system levels.
• Background in embedded software integration and RF control loops.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving, resource‑constrained startup environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven track record of problem solving and ownership from concept through field validation.
