Job Summary
The Senior Revenue Accountant is a key member of the Technical Revenue Accounting Team and will play a critical role in ensuring accurate revenue recognition, compliance with ASC 606 requirements, and SOX controls. The Senior Revenue Accountant is also responsible for performing research and analysis on issues that arise as part of the monthly close process, as well as documenting contract reviews and preparing technical analysis of complex revenue transactions.
Candidate will also be responsible for posting manual revenue and deferred entries and reconcile G/L balances. Ensure system posted revenue using systems reflect the expected revenue position. Be responsible for external and internal audit queries. Work to prepare disclosure requirements as needed for the reporting team.
This is a hybrid role in Raleigh, NC.
Responsibilities- Apply expert knowledge of ASC 606 to analyze complex revenue contracts and transactions, ensuring compliance with the standard's guidelines and requirements.
- Perform monthly revenue accounting close responsibilities, including preparation of revenue schedules, account reconciliations, roll forwards, journal entries, and other deliverables within the close package.
- Collaborate with Net App’s finance team to develop and maintain revenue recognition policies, ensuring they align with ASC 606 and best accounting practices.
- Research and provide technical accounting guidance related to new products.
- Perform independent technical accounting research and document conclusions in memoranda.
- Collaborate with the internal audit team to ensure compliance with SOX controls related to revenue accounting and provide support during SOX testing and documentation.
- Conduct regular reviews and assessments of revenue contracts, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
- Perform revenue forecasting and variance analysis, providing insights and recommendations to management based on your analysis.
- Assist with external audits and act as a point of contact for revenue-related inquiries from auditors.
- Assist manager with the revenue analysis over Enterprise License Agreements (ELA’s) and perform monthly journal entries for these ELAs. Additionally, assist with the monthly reconciliation and disclose process.
- Perform data analytics to study the month-over-month changes and fluctuations between actuals and forecast.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is strongly preferred.
- Located in the Raleigh-Duram area of the United States to support the hybrid work environment.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in revenue accounting, with a strong emphasis on ASC 606. CPA is not required but a plus.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel.
- Proven experience in revenue recognition for complex contracts and transactions, preferably in a technology or software industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex contractual terms and apply accounting guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience with Oracle and Rev Pro systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 106, USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off, various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
