Overview
Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Medical Assistant to work directly with Surgeons, Clinic Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners at Mansfield Orthopaedics in our Waterbury location (with some staffing at the Morrisville location as needed). This Medical Assistant coordinates the flow of office patients to providers and provides general support services to physicians and mid-level providers.
They troubleshoot patient problems and collaborate with practice staff and other Copley managers or staff as needed. The role assists with patient education regarding peri-operative/post-operative issues and becomes familiar with all clinic appropriate appliances. There is a strong focus on overall patient satisfaction.
This is a Full-Time position (PT available). Copley Hospital has a variety of shifts available across Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem needs. Mansfield Orthopaedics has locations in Waterbury and Morrisville. Please consider applying to discuss how your availability may align.
Compensation: Negotiable. An offer of employment may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skill, internal equity, and market data. Responsibilities- Prepare instruments for autoclaving. Transport equipment to hospital for cleaning per policy. Pick up clean instruments when ready and restock exam rooms to ensure an adequate supply of instruments at all times.
- Work collaboratively with other Medical Assistants and Providers in all procedures appropriate for the clinic. Provide associated documentation and/or educational materials to patients when requested.
- Utilize EMR and paper charts to retrieve patient medical charts and prepare charts for new patients for the following day’s appointments in an accurate and timely fashion. Review charts to ensure completeness (Labs, Ultrasounds, MRI, CT, EMG, x-ray reports, office notes from PCP and any other pertinent previous records, etc.). Rearrange provider's schedule as needed.
- Maintain general appearance and cleanliness of exam rooms. Wipe down rooms with appropriate disinfectant at end of day. Ensure stocking of clean laundry and proper disposal of soiled laundry. Pre-wash, drop off, and pick up sterilized instruments. Keep supply inventories in stock.
- Greet and escort patients to exam rooms to facilitate a positive experience. Instruct patients in preparation for examination and provide appropriate patient drape. Collect patient history and necessary information for the EHR file.
- Receive, organize, and sign out medicine samples.
- Enter patient information and complete forms in the EMR as requested by providers (e.g., return to work, out of work, work restrictions, insurance forms) for signature by the provider.
- Act as liaison with primary care providers and other specialists for appointment referrals and further care. Fax related notes as appropriate. Prepare order discs for patients to hand-carry, with an introductory letter as appropriate.
- Respond to patients and provide follow-up communication by telephone per provider instructions. Determine what the provider must address and what can be transmitted directly from the MA.
- Work collaboratively with reception and business office staff to ensure a seamless patient experience and complete medical and business processes.
- Schedule or facilitate the scheduling of needed return appointments and/or radiological examinations and other testing in a timely fashion.
- Use the practice management system and EMR for scheduling, record retrieval, and data entry throughout the day as necessary to support the providers’ practice. If applicable, review chart following transcription to ensure any required provider follow-up is documented on the patient plan.
