Position SummaryThe Quality Lab Technician performs routine and specialized testing of tube mill products to ensure compliance with internal specifications and customer requirements. This role supports production by identifying quality issues, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all materials meet required standards before shipment.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Starting Pay: $21.31/hour
Employment Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Key Responsibilities- Conduct dimensional, mechanical, and visual inspections using precision instruments.
- Perform lab tests (tensile, yield, elongation, hardness, corrosion, hoop stress, hydrogen).
- Prepare and maintain test samples per ASTM and ISO standards.
- Monitor and record production quality data; assist in root cause analysis.
- Calibrate and maintain lab equipment.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
- Maintain a clean, safe lab environment and support audits.
- Document and communicate test results accurately.
- Assist with gauge calibrations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with ASTM standards and mechanical testing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Chemical lab testing experience.
- Experience creating work instructions and documentation.
- Knowledge of automation tools (Excel, Power Automate).
- Calibration experience with micrometers, calipers, gauges.
- Hazardous materials handling and metallurgical lab experience.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years in a manufacturing lab environment (metal fabrication or tube production preferred).
- Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Visual acuity for precision inspections.
- Frequent walking between the lab and production floor to collect samples, perform inspections, and communicate with production teams.
- Lab and manufacturing environment with noise and moving machinery.
- Non-climate-controlled areas.
- PPE required (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, gloves).
