Slitter Operator – A, B, C, & D Shift – Morristown, TN
Domtar is a leading producer of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue, and wood products. Through a focus on safety and sustainability, we deliver high‑quality products around the world. We are seeking a full‑time, permanent Slitter Operator for the Morristown, TN facility.
Position Summary & Key Areas of ResponsibilityResponsible for producing paper rolls and maintaining productivity from a variety of slitting machines (including adjusting and setting up equipment); ensuring equipment adjustment, maintenance, and cleanliness.
- Maintain records, including quality records.
- Prepare orders based on import/export specifications, enter data, track information, and generate standard reports.
- Ensure accurate completion of mill roll requisitions and confirm correct raw materials are used.
- Fill out the production report at the end of each job.
- Set up and maintain equipment; ensure that equipment runs in accordance with operational standards.
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure the correct raw materials are processed; fill out various production reports.
Weight lifted:
Lower 0–25 lbs, Moderate 26–100 lbs, High >100 lbs. Weight repeatedly lifted per shift:
Occasional 0–25 times, Moderate 26–100 times, Repetitive 100–500 times.
Work environment involves repetitive lifting in the lower range and occasional lifting in the higher range; exposure to electrical hazards, dust, moving machinery, noise, and odors. Goggles and earplugs may be required.
Basic Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 0–2 years of related experience.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Good speed and manual dexterity.
- Quality oriented.
- Ability to troubleshoot, adjust, and repair equipment.
- Good math ability including reading instruments in metric, thousands, and 1/64” increments.
- Ability to work well as a team member.
- Certification to use work‑area equipment.
- 2+ years of related experience.
You will be required to successfully complete a selection process that could include interviews, an employment background check, a pre‑employment drug and alcohol screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a fitness‑for‑duty test (for some positions).
