Responsibilities- Phone Coverage:
Answer and handle calls in a timely and efficient manner with appropriate telephone etiquette. - Scheduling:
Use general scheduling guidelines to schedule patient appointments, selecting the appropriate visit type and length. May schedule meetings for physicians. - Registration:
Greet patients promptly on arrival, collect and document time-of-service payments, verify/collect demographics, emergency contacts, and insurance information, and correctly register patients in the system. - EMR:
Enter information accurately into the EMR; use EMR for prescriptions, phone notes, referrals, outreach, and check-out processes. - Other duties as assigned; may include reporting, surgical scheduling, managing authorizations and referrals, and maintaining adequate supply inventory.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior administrative experience in an office setting, medical practice or similar environment preferred
- Knowledge of computerized scheduling and EMR systems is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to serve a diverse patient base; ability to assist patients promptly with concerns or complaints
- Proficiency in patient registration, appointments, scheduling, arrival appointments, EMR notes, indexing documents within EMR, and telephone etiquette
- Working knowledge of computers; familiarity with medical terminology, insurance and EMR
- Decision-making skills to achieve positive outcomes for patients, visitors and staff while balancing business needs
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (photocopier, PC, fax, scanner, etc.)
- Basic problem solving and decision-making abilities
