Echo Sonographer II – Morristown Medical Center Job Description

  • Performs comprehensive ultrasound exams, following established protocols to verify, plan, set up, perform, and report appropriate examinations.
  • Verifies patient identity, provides education, and observes patients during procedures to ensure cooperation and safety.
  • Assists in continuing quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Completes clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests, ensuring all testing information is recorded accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Reports critical results promptly and accurately per established policy, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Communicates with physicians, patients, and other center personnel in a pleasant and informative manner.
  • Makes recommendations to supervisors regarding related duties, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area, cleans patient areas after each use, and assists with lab opening and closing procedures.
  • Understands and implements hospital infection control policies for equipment maintenance.
  • Identifies and addresses own learning needs, attends in‑services, and participates in departmental meetings to increase proficiency.
  • Suggests new, more efficient, or economical techniques, procedures, and processes.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by showing motivation, enthusiasm, responsibility, and personal accountability, and by mentoring and developing others.
Qualifications
  • Registry through CCI or ARDMS.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Skills and Activities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Registered Sonographer expertise with Strain & Pedoff, Basic 3D, Stress Echo.
