Gem Care Recruiting has an immediate opening for experienced Machining Engineers. This is a Direct Hire opportunity in the Morristown, TN area. This is a great opportunity to join a rapidly growing company in the East Tennessee area.
We’re looking for a hands-on, solutions-driven Engineer (Assembly or Metal Machining) to join our team and play a key role in supporting our manufacturing operations. If you're passionate about process improvement, troubleshooting complex equipment, and helping factories run smarter—not just harder—this role is for you.
You'll work directly with production teams to optimize machinery, support maintenance and quality initiatives, and lead electrical engineering efforts that improve productivity, reduce costs, and enable continuous innovation.
What You’ll Do:
- Act as the primary Engineering support for assigned manufacturing areas
- Troubleshoot machines and support the Maintenance team with technical guidance
- Design and test new tooling to enhance machining performance
- Program CNC machines to optimize manufacturing accuracy and efficiency
- Identify and implement long-term solutions for equipment and process issues
- Continuously improve manufacturing processes for safety, quality, and cost
- Conduct process testing and support engineering documentation updates
- Participate in Kaizen and daily operations review activities
- Manage engineering documentation for process changes and improvements
- Analyze and resolve spare parts issues; recommend improvements
- Prepare new equipment for production and conduct capability studies (e.g. P.F.M.E.A.)
- Collaborate on new equipment layout design and capital project purchases
- Create engineering reports to document development and troubleshooting results
- Support new product introductions and process change projects
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong skills in:
- CNC programming & machining
- PLC programming & troubleshooting
- Mechanical problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Reading and interpreting part drawings
- High-level math and computer skills (Excel, Word)
- Knowledge of metal cutting, tooling, and fluids
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
- Ability to lead by example in a team-oriented environment
- Self-starter mindset with strong time-management skills
- Comfortable working overtime or weekends when necessary
- Physically able to navigate manufacturing equipment as needed
