The National Senior Lab Manager reports to the Director of Extraction and is integral to the success and organization of our extraction labs and expanded facilities. This position oversees the entire extraction, refinement, and manufacturing process in accordance with state and company standards. It also ensures adherence to and continual improvement of standard operating procedures, safety standards, equipment repairs, and supports strategic initiatives and new product launches.

• Collaborate with the Director of Extraction to develop and streamline extraction and post‑processing methodology, including hydrocarbon, ethanol, and solventless extracts.
• Travel nationwide to lead and provide technical guidance at all lab sites.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert for all extraction and processing activities, equipment repairs, and method development.
• Plan and organize production schedules and analyze production requirements to achieve departmental objectives and scale processes for increased output.
• Facilitate and manage repairs of lab processing equipment, maintain preventive maintenance and spare parts programs, and work with vendors to minimize downtime.
• Maintain updated inventory, status records, and maintenance logs of all extraction equipment, proactively identifying needed service.
• Lead training of all lab staff (managers and technicians) on extraction/laboratory procedures and complete comprehensive training documentation.
• Work with engineering to ensure appropriate environmental standards in each lab.
• Collaborate with EHS/Safety on critical safety standards.
• Promote continuous improvement of team knowledge on lab procedures, safety awareness, OSHA, Food Safety, and quality control to align with company standards.
• Adhere to state regulatory requirements and control documentation and data‑recording procedures Epis across all sites.
• Analyze data for trends and modify methods accordingly, developing extraction capacity models and KPIs.
• Drive an environment of safety, continual improvement, and open communication at all staff levels.
• Integrate remediation technologies for pesticides, heavy metals, and color as needed.
• Implement research and development within production for continuous improvement.
• Identify and apply new technologies and methodologies to improve workflow, product quality, and COGs.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience managing cannabis labs.
• 3‑.Memory to 5+ years of hands‑on experience with ethanol extraction, butane extraction, and wiped film distillation.
• Comfortable with 75‑100% travel on a regular basis.
• Technical problem‑solving skills in a processing plant environment and with chemical processing equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and deep understanding of extraction and support equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of ethanol, butane, distillation, and solventless extraction fundamentals.
• Creative and comfortable with ambiguity.
• Must reside within proximity to AWH flagship locations (ideal states: IL, MA, NJ, OH).
• Strong scientific background with process validation (SPC) experience.
• Preferred knowledge of cannabinoids, terpenes, and their medicinal benefits.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be compliant with regulatory requirements for the cannabis industry.
• Must obtain and retain a Registered Agent Card issued by each state where AWH operates extraction labs.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
