General Description / Position Summary

Plans, organizes, and directs engineering functions to meet company objectives for new product development and improvement of existing product lines.

Job Description

Essential Job Duties

Manage new launches and continuous improvement projects.

Track and monitor processes, including but not limited to cycle times, scrap performance, efficiency, etc.

Plan and formulate aspects of research and development proposals such as project objectives, applications of findings, costs, and resource requirements.

Oversee key projects, processes, and performance reports, including data and analysis. Plan documentation systems.

Utilize problem-solving tools in various situations, including root cause analysis, flowcharts, and fishbone diagrams.

Research and suggest design concepts and fundamental technology for new or improved products.

Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality departments to monitor quality and process improvements and new product development.

Record test data using statistical quality control procedures.

Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.

Prepare graphs, charts, or enter data into computer systems for analysis.

Perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to facilitate small group discussions, lead meetings, training sessions, and projects.

In-depth knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes.

Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.

Functional knowledge of CNC programming in close tolerance applications and PLC nomenclature/programming.

Familiarity with quality systems, gauging, and close tolerance measurement.

Ability to troubleshoot complex system problems.

Proficient in statistical data analysis.

Knowledge of special equipment (e.g., CBN grinding, tool regrinding, chip handling, filtration systems).

FMEA procedure development and implementation.

Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.

Proficient in part drawing interpretation.

Computer skills:
Excel, Word, AutoCAD.

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Safety-oriented and physically able to access equipment and work in a plant environment.

Technical aptitude and the ability to comprehend complex technical topics.

Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks in stressful situations.

Experience participating in continuous improvement projects.

Proficient in data recording, interpretation, and presentation.

Experience operating computerized equipment (Excel is a plus).

Willingness to work any shift and overtime as needed.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including proven troubleshooting methods.

Ability to recognize, define, and analyze problems, collect data, and draw conclusions.
