District/Head Start Grow NJ Kids TAS Position Summary

Work collaboratively with DOE master teachers/quality specialist teams and Head Start quality specialists/coaches using various approaches such as:

  • Quarterly networking meetings
  • Frequent phone and email support; and
  • On-site visits and consultation as needed

Provide DOE/Head Start partners with consultation and training to ensure they are knowledgeable about the Grow NJ Kids process, from enrollment to rating.

Reflect with DOE and Head Start partners as thought partners on their practice-based coaching process with teachers to ensure continuous improvement.

Provide expertise on the ERS tools and how they are utilized in the Grow NJ Kids system for quality improvement, TA and rating.

Collaborate with TAC State Anchors to coordinate accountability sessions to support proper use and success with ERS tools.

Provide coaching, resources and strategies to DOE Master Teachers and Head Start Specialists so they can successfully support schools in the quality improvement process (tracking PD of staff, tracking the various family meetings held and when, tracking timing for teacher assessments, understanding training requirements, documentation, etc.)

Quality Rating & Documentation Review Responsibilities
  • Provide documentation review support to TAS teams, including a detailed review of evidence prior to rating submission to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with GNJL rating criteria.
  • Assist and support individual TAS—particularly those working with private/blended early childhood centers—in reviewing, organizing, and strengthening documentation portfolios prior to submission for rating.
  • Support TASs and program leadership in interpreting Grow NJ Kids standards and indicators, clarifying documentation expectations, and identifying gaps or areas requiring additional evidence.
  • Help guide private/blended programs in developing systems for ongoing documentation management to promote sustainability and readiness for future ratings or re-ratings.
  • Assist in ensuring documentation reflects fidelity in implementation and accurately demonstrates quality practices across all required standards.
  • Provide targeted technical assistance to address common documentation challenges, including alignment of policies, procedures, and practice with Grow NJ Kids requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist with clarifying any standards/documentation required for rating and quality improvement process.
  • Continually provide all up-to-date resources from DFD and GNJK Rating Center about the rating process. Essentially, keeping them "in the loop."
  • Support CQI efforts post-initial rating to ensure ongoing improvement and continued maintenance of quality efforts.
  • Engage in regular communication and collaborative relationships with regional TAC Head Start/District TASs.
  • Be available to districts/Head Start programs in seven counties:
    Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, Warren, Hunterdon, Morris and Union
Requirements

Education degree (BA or MA), preferably in a related field. Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Grow NJ Kids TA Specialist or QIS. Have demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the Grow NJ Kids quality improvement process from enrollment through rating. Has successfully completed rating for at least 5 programs enrolled in GNJK.

Qualifications: Computer proficiency required with Microsoft programs. Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills are required.

Valid Driver’s license with the ability to provide proof of ongoing automobile insurance coverage is required. This position will entail reimbursable local and statewide travel utilizing personal vehicles.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent driving that can be long distances and typing and the ability to occasionally lift up to twenty pounds of materials or equipment.
