Job Description

Full‑time Certified Medical Assistant for Occupational Medicine.

Hours are: Monday‑Friday:
Either 7am – 3pm or 8am – 4pm - 22.5 hour work week, Part Time benefitted.

Must be willing to travel to all Occupational Medicine locations: Summit, Morristown, Pompton Plains, Hackettstown, or Newton.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Handle patient intake, update medical records, and administer appropriate screening tools.
  • Record medical information and test results, conduct patient interviews, take and record vital signs, collect specimens, and administer medication under physician supervision.
  • Assist with walk‑in and scheduled clinic visits, ensure verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
  • Guide patients through the health care system and help patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
  • Take vital signs, typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams.
  • Assist with examinations, working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples, instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood.
  • Maintain excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability to a fast‑paced environment, and hold utmost professionalism at all times; strong written and communication skills.
  • Greet patients, welcoming patients to the facility and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintain medical records, recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.
  • Clean patient rooms, sanitizing and reorganizing patient rooms between visits.
  • Pre‑prep examination rooms, ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies.
  • Provide emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
  • Assist with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
  • Must be willing to travel to all Occupational Med locations.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certification CCMA from one of the following: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
  • If certification is expired or being obtained, a precertification agreement must be signed within 60 days of employment.

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in health care services.
  • 2+ years of experience in an outpatient, ambulatory setting.
  • Excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability to a fast‑paced environment, and hold utmost professionalism at all times.
  • BLS upon hire.
  • Experience with EPIC or similar EMR system.
  • Ability to work within computer systems.
