Vascular Ultrasound Tech III Per Diem

Job Description Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive ultrasound exams. Follows established protocols to verify, plan, set up, perform, and report appropriate examinations. Verifies identity and informs and observes patient during procedure to ensure patient education, cooperation, and safety. Assists in continuing quality assurance and performance improvement.
• Completes clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests, ensuring all testing information is recorded accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. Reports critical results promptly and accurately, following established policy. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Communicates with physicians, patients, and other centre personnel in a pleasant and informative manner. Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding duties, policies and procedures.
• Enhances team environment by showing motivation, enthusiasm, acceptance of responsibility, and personal accountability. Engages in problem‑solving in difficult situations, asks for assistance when appropriate, and accepts suggestions positively. Demonstrates understanding of the impact of individual performance on the team and seeks to mentor and develop others.
• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner. Cleans patient areas after each use, assists with lab cleaning, notifies supervisor of stocking and equipment needs, and takes responsibility for lab opening and closing procedures when appropriate. Cleans and maintains all equipment according to infection‑control policies.
• Identifies own learning needs and responds to departmental needs. Attends in‑services, lab and departmental meetings, strives to increase proficiency in testing and lab procedures, and suggests new, efficient or economical techniques, procedures and processes.

Includes skills of Sonographer Levels 1 + 2 & protocol‑directed/research protocols. Consistently takes initiative to develop professionally; positive attitude, increased engagement, shift from internal focus to external team/department/org. Demonstrates a high‑reliability‑organisation culture by identifying patient‑safety issues. Consistently seeks out opportunities to learn new technology and equipment; expands knowledge and skills.

ASE member, attends echo conference, preceptor, provides educational activity/in‑service, presentations, shared governance, assists with IAC, QI initiatives, and completes CVT‑PACT.

Vascular Tech 1+–2 & graft surveillance, arterial duplex, pseudo‑aneurysm and/or fistula. Consistently takes initiative to develop professionally; positive attitude, increased engagement, shift from internal focus to external team/department/org. Demonstrates a high‑reliability‑organisation culture by identifying patient‑safety issues. Consistently seeks out opportunities to learn new technology and equipment; expands knowledge and skills.

SVU member, assists with IAC, preceptor, educational activity/in‑service, professional presentations, shared governance committee membership, assists with IAC, QI initiatives, and completes CVT‑PACT.

• Registry through CCI or ARDMS.
• Training/Certification:
  Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Echo Sonographer III:
  Registered Sonographer.
• Vascular Tech III: RVT/RVS.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written skills, basic computer proficiency.
