Position: Certified Medical Assistant I, Full Time, Pediatrics, Morristown

Principal Responsibilities

  • Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
  • Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, assists with entering genetic test orders in genetic testing lab portals.
  • Completes patient registrations, assists with checking-in/out patients, collects/posts patient copayments, scans patient documents and answers patient calls.
  • Ensures insurance carrier prior-authorizations are received for upcoming scheduled visits and assists with requesting and obtaining prior authorizations for radiology orders.
  • Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
  • Runs scheduling reports, maintains accurate provider schedules and proactively tracks patients pending follow-up appointments and assists with scheduling.
  • Monitors environment for compliance with continual accreditation readiness and evaluates practice schedule for changes or updates.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating elements of holistic patient-centered and team-based care.
  • Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
  • Provides emotional support related to the patient s clinical situation in accordance with the patient s plan of care.
  • Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Tracking genetic testing results and uploading results into the electronic medical record.
  • Assisting Genetic Counselor/Geneticist on obtaining additional family testing as needed.
  • Triaging patients when they call for an appointment with appropriate provider and determining urgency.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Required:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
    • National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
    • Precertification agreement must be signed if expired or receiving certification within 60 days of employment.

    Preferred:

    • Associate s degree in Medical Care or related field.
    • 1 year of experience in Health Care services.
