About the RoleThe Plant Manager will provide leadership to plan, direct, organize, coordinate, and control activities in safe practices and principles of limestone quarry mining from drilling & blasting, loading, hauling, processing, to stockpiling finished products in IDOT specifications, ensuring quality, productivity, and lowest cost efficiency. The manager will be responsible for the safety and health of miners and the environmental stewardship of operations, reporting production/inventory status, maintaining plant property and equipment, communicating with safety, mine engineering, environmental, land, commercial sales, quality control, finance, corporate performance, HR, and government agencies.
The manager will staff salaried subordinates and a union workforce of 16 hourly employees, promoting teamwork and safety.
- Safety:
Ensures that employees, equipment, and processes meet or exceed MSHA and Amrize guidelines. Pursues a culture of safety, aiming for “zero by choice” injuries or incidents. - Environment:
Prioritizes environmental stewardship, ensuring regulations are met or exceeded. - Operations Management:
Direct oversight of extraction, processing, storage, and shipping of aggregates. - Process Optimization:
Embraces best practices, processes, and tools to optimize plant activities and achieve best-in-class costs. - Maintenance:
Utilizes Amrize’s maintenance programs to maximize uptime and manage costs. - Inventory Management:
Coordinates with Territory Managers, Financial Controller, and Quality Control to manage inventory needs. - Performance Management:
Promotes a culture of performance, using KPIs, reviews, and reports to track performance, establish action plans, and continuously improve operations. - Quality:
Maintains quality standards and ensures products meet specifications. - Process Integrity:
Applies best practices in extraction, processing, stockpiling, stock‑pile reclamation, and re‑handling to meet target specifications, using reports to measure quality, identify variances, and establish corrective action. - Communication:
Demonstrates commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments.
- Required
Education:
Bachelor’s Undergraduate Degree and 5 years’ experience or 8-10 years of equivalent experience. - Field of Study Preferred: Mining or engineering, or significant industry experience.
- Licenses Preferred: Supervisor’s Card issued by MSHA.
- Additional Requirements: Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved PPE, including but not limited to respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean‑shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass fit tests.
