Discussed at interview About the Role We're looking for a proactive and highly motivated CAD CAM Engineer to join our engineering team at a manufacturing site in the Consett area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, precision design work, and collaborating across departments to deliver bespoke engineered products. What You'll Be Doing Designing and programming custom products based on customer specifications.
Creating accurate BOMs, routings, and volume data. Producing engineering drawings and 3D models using Radan, AutoCAD, and Inventor. Supporting sales and quotations teams with technical drawings and clarifications. Conducting tooling audits to support production efficiency. Working closely with shop-floor leaders to resolve production queries. Providing realistic timescales for customer orders. Performing nesting for standard and bespoke components. Contributing to new product development and industrialisation projects.
Programming samples for R&D and technical teams. Troubleshooting machine, programming, and production issues. Carrying out additional duties as required by the CAD CAM Team Leader. What We're Looking For Experience working with engineering/manufacturing drawings (desirable). Strong CAD skills — ideally Radan, AutoCAD, and Inventor. Understanding of sheet-metal production processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking. Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Basic Excel and Word skills. Knowledge of database systems (preferred). Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism. Willingness to travel occasionally. A valid UK driving licence (preferred).
