My client, a specialist Medical Technology company, currently has a requirement for a talented Bioinformatician to join on a permanent basis. In this role you will be working closely with bioinformatics, engineering, clinical, and regulatory colleagues, you will design, implement, and validate analytical pipelines and predictive models that meet both scientific and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Developing workflows for FASTQ generation from sequencing base-call data
• Conducting RNA-Seq quality control and data integrity assessments
• Analysing RNA-Seq datasets to evaluate experimental approaches and assess analytical performance
• Performing RNA-Seq-based analyses to support drug response and sensitivity evaluation
• Designing, training, and refining machine learning models for therapy response prediction
• Contributing to the end-to-end bioinformatics pipeline of a regulated SaMD
• Delivering analytical results within clinical turnaround timelines
• Producing technical, validation, and traceability documentation required for regulatory compliance
• Maintaining and managing cloud-based data storage and databases

Required Experience & Skills

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related discipline, plus post-doctoral or equivalent industry experience
• Extensive hands-on experience (4+ years) working with RNA-Seq data
• Strong grounding in cancer biology and translational oncology
• Proven experience developing machine learning models using transcriptomic data
• Practical knowledge of workflow orchestration tools such as Snakemake or Nextflow
• Advanced programming skills in Python and Bash, working in Linux-based cloud environments
• Experience with database design and management (e.g. SQL-based systems)
