About the job

The Aquatic and Track Center at Mylan Park is seeking an Assistant General Manager - Aquatics (AGM - Aquatics). The AGM - Aquatics is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and supervision of the Mylan Park Aquatics Department, directly managing the Aquatics Director and aquatic staff (interview, hire, train, evaluate) with the goal of driving usage of the pool and meeting the needs of the swimming communities.

This position reports directly to the General Manager. The AGM - Aquatics will manage the pool calendar and is responsible for the sales and execution of meets and aquatic events. The AGM - Aquatics will also maintain all pool operations and oversee all equipment and maintenance to ensure water is balanced and equipment is maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Operate pools and equipment in accordance with state and local bathing code provisions and arrange for immediate corrections of any violations found during inspections by appropriate authorities.
  • Be responsible for swim meets, contracts, practices, and pool schedules.
  • Manage the Colorado Timing System (CTS).
  • Manage staff that drives programs such as swim lessons, group exercise programs, community partnership programs, physical therapy rehab providers, and related services.
  • Manage pool equipment, water chemistry, and pool systems.
  • Assist with selecting, training, evaluating, and retaining staff to provide services to the community (e.g., meet managers, management staff, lifeguards, swim instructors, coaches).
  • Enforce all personnel policies and guidelines in accordance with ESM/Mylan Park policies.
  • Contribute to membership development and retention through efficient allocation of facility and human resources.
  • Participate as part of the Mylan Park Management team; share responsibility as building supervisor (MOD) as necessary; participate in special events, fundraising campaigns, and other leadership duties as assigned.
  • Develop department budget and provide weekly and monthly audits of the department.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and communication.
  • Work irregular shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge of pool filtration systems, water chemistry, CTS equipment, rescue equipment, and office equipment; familiarity with Google Platform used by Mylan Park.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the General Manager.
Supervisory responsibilities
  • Manage 1-2 subordinate supervisors who oversee 40-50 employees.
  • Lead training, planning, directing work, performance appraisals, and other supervisory tasks in line with park policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications

Education and/or

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must possess the following:

  • Current Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid/Oxygen Administration Certification (required)
  • Water Safety Instructor (preferred)
  • Certified Pool Operator (required)
  • USA Swimming Coach Certification and ASCA certification (preferred)
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (preferred)
  • Proficiency with swim meet management and timing systems (Hytek and Colorado Timing System Gen
    7)

As part of the AGM - Aquatics role, proficiency in Event Administration and Timing System Operations (EA/TSO) is required. This includes managing data for swim meets, entry into meet management software, testing, troubleshooting, operating timing systems, and performing preventive/restorative CTS maintenance. Events typically take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays; weekday availability may be required as well.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; respond to sensitive inquiries; write speeches and articles; and deliver persuasive presentations to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.

Mathematical

Skills:

Proficiency with probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions as applied to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer

Skills:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and required registration software and Timeclock software used by Mylan Park.

Physical Demands:
Regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; stand, walk, sit; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and more than 100 pounds occasionally; vision requirements include various visual capabilities.

Work Environment:
Regular exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles; occasional exposure to high places, chemicals, explosives, radiation, and vibration; typical noise level is moderate.
