Travel Nurse Source is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Wheeling, West Virginia, 26003!

Description:
Unit has 30 beds, including both private and semi-private rooms.
Staffing ratios aim for 1:4 but often run 1:5, occasionally reaching 1:6.
Charge nurses take a full patient assignment on both day and night shifts, along with supervising the unit.
Nurse aides usually consist of 2-3 individuals, with ratios of 1:10-12.
Weekend shifts include Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with specific requirements depending on the shift schedule.
Travel staff may be required to work holidays as needed but typically do not work many holidays.
Scrub color for RNs is navy blue for tops and bottoms, with navy scrub jackets allowed.
While telemetry technicians are present, RNs must be able to read and interpret their own cardiac strips.
RNs are expected to titrate drips for medications such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, and Heparin.
Respiratory treatments and equipment management are handled by respiratory therapists.
Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7, along with a dedicated intensivist.
IV team and pharmacy services are in-house 24/7.
Shifts start at 7 AM and 7 PM, with staff expected to be ready on the unit 15 minutes prior.
Self-scheduling is permitted as long as unit needs are met, with an allowance for 4 requested days off per month.
All staff may be required to float when necessary, including to other units.
First day orientation involves HR for approximately 4 hours, with subsequent training on the unit.
Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, and care before and after various procedures.
Additional patient care includes managing therapy related to specific medications.
Charting is performed using an electronic system.
BSN is not required for this position.
A valid license is mandatory for submission.
Floating between units may occur as necessary during staffing adjustments.
