Core Duties and Responsibilities- Demonstrates safety and continuity of care using documentation, handoff tools/processes, etc.
- Creates a plan of care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnoses, intervention, and evaluation of outcomes.
- Recognizes patient safety concerns through appropriate resources.
- Provides education based on unique learning needs of the patient.
- Incorporates patient individuality and data in the delivery of care.
- Performs an adequate patient assessment and documentation.
- Demonstrates the teach‑back method to evaluate effectiveness of education.
- Utilizes evidence‑based practice in nursing care.
- Participates in organizational patient‑centered care models.
- Documents problems and issues in the plan of care.
- Demonstrates growth in caring for more complex patients, utilizing consultation with experienced colleagues.
- Shows commitment to lifelong learning through self‑reflection and inquiry.
- Retains accountability for delegated nursing care.
- Recognizes scope of practice for all interprofessional team members.
- Participates in holistic, culturally sensitive data collection.
- Assesses the impact of family dynamics on patient health and wellness.
- Integrates the ANA code of ethics into practice.
- Identifies discriminatory practices in culturally diverse populations.
- Individualizes care based on patient beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn.
- Minimize manual patient lifting; safe handling to 35 lb whenever possible.
- Heavy/Hard work: lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, carrying materials and equipment weighing 40 lb+.
- Visual acuity within normal range.
- Hearing within normal range (required for assessing breath sounds, bowel sounds, monitor interpretation, etc.).
- Protracted or irregular hours.
- Work with biohazards, infectious diseases, deceased patients, water, electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
- Positive and effective communication, negotiation, conflict resolution.
- Competent clinical practice and critical thinking to deliver efficient patient care.
- Flexibility in response to changes in work volume, staffing, and scheduling.
- Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions and adapt to varying workloads.
- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or a current multi‑state RN license through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire date.
- Less than 12 months experience as a registered nurse.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
