Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) with day/night rotation

• Minimum 2 full weekends per month required (Friday/Saturday/Sunday considered weekend shifts)

• Holiday rotation participation required

• 2 years of PICU experience is a hard requirement

• Patient ratios: ICU 1:1-2, Step-down 1:3

• Required certifications: BLS and PALS

• No call requirement

• Floating within children's units required (L&D, NICU, and Acute Pediatrics)

• Dress code:
Royal blue scrubs with fun, kid-friendly scrub tops (no t-shirts allowed)

• Care for patients with congenital heart conditions, DKA, respiratory issues, neurosurgery, tracheostomies, ventilators, and G-tubes

• Titrate sedation drips (Fentanyl, Versed, Precedex) and vasoactive drugs per physician orders

• Manage TPN, MIVF, and other titratable drips

• Self-scheduling available with block scheduling possible when unit needs are met

• 3-shift orientation in PICU with mentor, plus EPIC training and competency reviews

• Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week contract

• EPIC charting system

• BSN not required

This pediatric medical center features a specialized 20-bed PICU with an average daily census of 15 patients, providing comprehensive critical care services for children. The facility operates a congenital heart program and offers advanced pediatric care including respiratory support, neurosurgery, and complex medical management. The unit maintains 24/7 in-house pediatrician coverage with residents and advanced practice providers, along with respiratory therapy support for ventilator management.

The facility emphasizes family-centered care in a child-friendly environment and provides comprehensive nursing support including charge nurses and house supervisors.
