Registered Nurse (RN) - Days, 6W Neurosciences
WVU Hospitals — Ruby Memorial Hospital welcomes a dedicated RN to join our Neurosciences unit for a full‑time days shift. The position offers a competitive salary, benefits, and an opportunity to advance through the hospital’s clinical ladder.
Shift: Day – United States of America
Hours: 36 weekly
Location: 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, West Virginia
License: Current WV RN licensure or multi‑state compact (eNLC) required within 60 days of hire
Certification: Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire
- Provide comprehensive patient assessment, plan of care, intervention, and evaluation using the nursing process.
- Document patient data, problems, and outcomes in the plan of care and handoff tools.
- Deliver patient education and teach‑back methods for effective understanding.
- Utilize evidence‑based practice and participate in quality improvement and shared governance initiatives.
- Recognize and respond to patient safety concerns and multidisciplinary scope of practice.
- Maintain accountability for delegated nursing care and clinical judgment in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Integrate the ANA code of ethics and culturally sensitive practice in all nursing duties.
- Education: Current WV Board RN license or eNLC; B.S.N., ADN, or equivalent diploma required.
- Experience: Less than 12 months of RN experience; graduate RN eligible for Level 1.
- Certification: Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
- Availability to complete all required assessments and orientation within 60 days of hire.
- Manual patient handling limited to 35 pounds; use lift equipment as indicated.
- Heavy/Hard work: lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, and carrying materials and equipment weighing 40+ lbs.
- Visual acuity and hearing within normal range.
- Protracted or irregular hours during the days shift.
- Exposure to biohazards, infectious diseases, and electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.
- Work near deceased patients, water, and electrical equipment in a surgical setting.
- Excellent interpersonal communication; negotiate and resolve conflict effectively.
- Clinical practice and critical thinking to deliver efficient patient care with multidisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility to respond to changes in work volume, staffing, and scheduling.
- Ability to work under highly stressful conditions and adapt to variable workloads.
- Level 1 – Graduate RN with < 12 months experience; no experience required.
- Level 2 – One year experience; meets Level 1 requirements.
- Level 3 – Two years experience + one specialty certification; charge nurse or precepting experience required.
- Level 4 – BSN or ADN with 5 years experience; one specialty certification required; charge nurse or precepting experience; QI and shared governance participation.
- Level 5 – MSN or higher with 4 years experience; one specialty certification; charge nurse or precepting experience; QI and shared governance at organization level.
- Level 6 – MSN or higher with 7+ years experience; one specialty certification; charge nurse or precepting experience; system‑level QI and shared governance.
