Responsibilities- Coordinate and manage distributive and clinical services provided by the Department of Pharmaceutical Services.
- Supervise personnel and implement educational programs offered by the department.
- Develop and implement processes and orientation programs to maintain staff competence.
- Implement programs, systems, and services to provide drug distribution and clinical services that meet or exceed national standards for patients.
- Formulate and refine systems used in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients.
- Direct staff activities, monitor performance, clarify expectations, and promote cooperation among teams.
- Directly supervise staff in primary responsibilities and perform personnel functions such as interviewing, hiring, and performance management of direct-report employees.
- Ensure policies and procedures related to drug distribution are followed and staff schedules are coordinated.
- Investigate trends and developments in pharmacy practice; develop policies, procedures, and operational manuals.
- Assure development of policies, procedures, and orientation and training materials to support clinical and operational services.
- Identify, seek approval for, and implement new products, technology, and procedures to improve operations.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the Department of Pharmacy and monitor financial indicators.
- Implement systems to promote safe and effective use of pharmacy resources.
- Develop and maintain performance improvement indicators and programs to improve quality of service and patient safety.
- Maintain professional knowledge and skills through ongoing education and professional society involvement.
- Must possess a current pharmacist license issued by the state board where services will be provided (MD, WV, PA).
- Must have experience in at least one of the following areas: completion of a health-system or non-health-system pharmacy administration residency program; one year of experience as a clinical pharmacist or pharmacy administrator; three years of pharmacy administrative experience; or five years of pharmacist practice experience.
- Master’s degree in business administration, health administration, pharmacy administration, or public health.
- Pharmacy specialty certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS).
- Walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds and push 50 pounds.
- Dexterity required to finger, handle, and reach.
