Join to apply for the Clinical Therapist - Supporting Department of Pediatrics Supportive Care/Palliative Care Team role at WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s. This position provides Social Services to all patients and families and works as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Licensure in a related field: LCSW or LICSW, LPC, or a licensed or supervised psychologist.
- West Virginia state criminal background check and federal background check if applicable for DHHR regulated area.
- AVADE training required within 90 days of hire (level dependent upon location).
- Advanced certification preferred when applicable.
- Prior experience in behavioral health.
- Participate as a professional member of an interdisciplinary treatment team led by a physician.
- Participate as clinical personnel in a treatment area and facilitate therapeutic milieu on the treatment unit, when applicable.
- Provide direct one‑on‑one age‑specific psychotherapy services to patients when requested via program requirements.
- Assist medical staff in determining appropriateness of services and receive referrals for intervention.
- Determine the developmental age of the patient and assist the treatment team in developing and implementing a treatment plan tailored to developmental needs.
- Assess psychosocial needs, including high‑risk indicators, and document psychosocial history and assessment.
- Correlate all assembled data on the psychosocial history in a clinically pertinent manner for the individual patient.
- Perform continued‑care planning from the first day of services.
- Provide group therapy as deemed appropriate.
- Act as liaison for patients and families to various community agencies, consultants, and services.
- Record and chart all patient contacts as required.
- Provide direct family therapy as directed by treatment planning and program requirements.
- Maintain appropriate certification, licensure, and competency through supervision and training and successful completion of annual performance evaluations.
- Attend continuing education seminars and in‑services as necessary to maintain professional licensure and competency.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Able to work in a variety of settings and possibly noisy environments.
- Work with difficult or challenging clients of various ages and demographics.
- Possesses interpersonal skills to communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict positively and effectively.
- Uses competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills to deliver patient care efficiently with all health‑care providers while maximizing efficient use of resources.
- Flexible in response to changes in work volume, staff, and scheduling changes.
- Capable of working successfully under highly stressful conditions and adapting to varying workloads and assignments.
