Provides intraoperative care to patients by functioning as the scrub person assisting the surgical team during an operative procedure.

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse OR
• Completion of a Surgical Technology Program and surgical technologist certification OR
• Completion of summer surgical tech extern program and surgical technologist certification required within 90 days of hire.

Additional requirements:

• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

• Two years of Surgical Technology experience (for hires prior to 2/1/2024).
• Four years of Surgical Technology experience (for hires on or after 2/1/2024).

• Advanced knowledge in desired specialty is strongly preferred.

Includes maintaining aseptic technique, assisting with surgical procedures, preparing supplies, sterilization, inventory management, cleaning, equipment checks, and mentoring staff.

• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Lifting up to 40 pounds and pushing carts up to 200 lbs.
• Visual, hearing, and manual dexterity required.

Work environment characteristics and skills include articulating clinical rationale, independent scrub ability for 2 service lines, and demonstrating clinical ability after six months at WVUH.
