Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office)
Must-Have Qualifications- CPA required
- 5+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or a corporate environment
- Oil and gas industry experience required
- Strong expertise in partnership taxation, including Up-C structures
- Hands‑on experience managing ASC 740 income tax provisions
- Experience overseeing income and non‑income tax compliance
- Proven ability to manage external advisors or tax professionals
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join a publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company with operations across the Appalachian Basin, including West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing complex tax operations, including partnership taxation, income tax provisions, and regulatory compliance. The position works closely with executive leadership, third‑party advisors, and cross‑functional teams to ensure tax strategy, compliance, and reporting align with the company’s growth and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage all aspects of Up‑C partnership taxation, working closely with third‑party tax advisors
- Evaluate and optimize the use of external tax advisors versus internal tax capabilities
- Direct the preparation and review of the ASC 740 income tax provision, including disclosures for SEC filings
- Oversee income and non‑income tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions
- Establish and maintain strong tax documentation, controls, and compliance processes
- Serve as the primary contact for tax audits, inquiries, and regulatory notices
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations impacting partnership and corporate taxation
- Identify and mitigate tax compliance and reporting risks
- Partner with finance, legal, and operations teams on tax treatment related to transactions, restructurings, and strategic initiatives
- Build, mentor, and support tax talent and strengthen internal tax governance
