Overview

Part Time Processing Assistant IV (Child Protective Services) #51481 – Department:
Social Services. Hiring Rate: $18.87 per hour. Closing Date:
Open Until Filled. This is a part time position and will not exceed 19 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible for creating and updating Child Protective Services (CPS) client cases associated with CPS reports that have been accepted for investigation and family assessment.

    Duties include:

    creating the case electronically in the agency's Northwoods system with client and household member data and family/caretaker relationships; scanning existing paper case information into the electronic CPS record according to the appropriate document fields (i.e. taxonomy); researching, gathering, and virtually printing individual criminal background data and state DSS client specific data (e.g., individual services state r, CPS Central Registry data, etc.)

    into the case to ensure the social worker has the current state and agency required CPS case components to provide child protective services.
  • Assisting the social work staff in sending "Conflict of Interest" CPS case information to other county DSSs for investigation, etc.
  • Preparing, updating, and maintaining case staffing documentation when cases are staffed with the CPS team members and supervisor to ensure program time frames are met; for any case outside the required program timeframe, ensuring the social worker has "good cause" documented.
  • Requesting copies of client records from agencies and other entities external to DSS (e.g., hospital records, mental health records, school records, etc.).
  • Entering case specific client data into the state services and state child welfare systems (i.e., Services Information System, Central Registry, MRS).
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Significant knowledge of office work procedures, methods and practices; strong command of grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose and proofread correspondence, reports and other materials.
  • Ability to utilize document management / document imaging computer systems.
  • Ability to apply a variety of work-related formulas or mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to record, compile, summarize and perform basic analysis of data.
  • Ability to work with people in a courteous and tactful manner in performing public contact duties that are sensitive and confidential in nature.
  • Ability to learn and independently apply laws and departmental rules and regulations covering programs and services.
  • Ability to review and process information to determine conclusions, actions or compliance with applicable laws, rules or regulations.
Minimum Training and Experience Requirements
  • Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
