Quality Control Technician (260000NW) at Vulcan Materials Company. Vulcan Materials is a leading producer of construction aggregates and materials, including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete. The role contributes to quality across production, shipping, and job-site delivery.
What You’ll Do- Ensure quality control by conducting routine testing of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, and finished materials to ensure product quality at points of production, shipping, and arrival at the job site. Adhere to testing methods in line with ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT requirements.
- Document and report information by completing required reports timely and accurately, interpreting, documenting, and storing results. Communicate test results to the supervisor and document in the database.
- Maintain lab standards by keeping housekeeping standards, troubleshooting problems, and reviewing basic product specifications. Inspect, calibrate, and maintain testing equipment periodically.
- Monitor stockpiles by inspecting stockpiles, material sources, and truckloads at plant sites. Monitor the daily construction of stockpiles to minimize or eliminate segregation and contamination. Notify management if contamination is identified.
- Inspect equipment and structures by conducting routine inspections of plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Experience:
Prior training or experience in the materials testing field is preferred. Knowledge of general principles and practices of aggregate production is preferred. - Safety Knowledge:
Awareness of construction and mining site hazards. - Math
Skills:
Ability to perform simple to moderately complex arithmetic calculations. - Technology
Skills:
Ability to use computerized equipment and technology. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google tools, Oracle Business Environment, and other position-relevant software.
