This job collaborates to maintain patient safety and provides basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The primary responsibilities include constant observation of patients, notifying nursing personnel of changes, and intervening to maintain safety. Effective communication with teammates, patients, families, and visitors is critical. The role adheres to policies and procedures and performs all functions delegated by the nurse staff.

Education- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred:
Hospital and telemetry experience
- Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses’ Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) within 30 days of hire
- Proficiency in computers, software, and web‑based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with varied audiences
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability
- Support the care plan as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area
- Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety criteria appropriate for patients’ ages
- Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary staff
- Complete documentation of patient‑related tasks
- Adapt communication style to meet the specific patient population, including privacy respect and clarification of services or procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Medium work:
Lifting 20–50 pounds occasionally and 10–25 pounds frequently; constant exertion of up to 10 pounds. Requires walking, standing, and frequent pushing/pulling of materials. Exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, and communicable diseases is routine. Hazards include hazardous medications and waste. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
