Job Summary
The County of Riverside Department of Waste Resources is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Worker based at Moreno Valley, CA. The role involves routine maintenance and servicing of heavy construction equipment such as dozers, scrapers, loaders, and trash compactors.
Responsibilities- Clean equipment tracks, replace oil, air & cabin filters, fuel, grease, and replenish fluids.
- Service, fuel, and maintain both light and heavy construction vehicles.
- Manage parts orders, pickup, delivery, and record‑keeping of materials.
- Perform regular inspections, identify leaks, and report issues to fleet supervision.
- Use hand, power, and pneumatic tools for wheel, frame, and drive cleaning.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for filters, fluids, and fuel.
- Assist with preventative maintenance tasks across landfill sites.
- Minimum one year of experience with heavy construction equipment maintenance or minor repair.
- Knowledge of major parts for tractors, dozers, scrapers, loaders and their associated hand/power/pneumatic tools.
- Ability to plan, schedule, and work independently with accurate recordkeeping.
- Proficient in using welding equipment and gas welding.
- Physical stamina for lifting, carrying, bending, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
- Experience in a landfill, recycling facility, or similar environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must obtain a California Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s Permit within two months of employment.
- MUST obtain and maintain an unrestricted California Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License within six months of employment, including tanker and hazardous materials endorsements and no air‑brake restriction.
- Required DOT-mandated alcohol and drug screening for safety-sensitive positions.
- Submit a Department of Motor Vehicles driving record before hire.
9/80 schedule including Saturdays. May travel to various landfill sites as needed.
Safety RequirementsRandom or reasonable‑suspicion DOT alcohol/drug testing; return‑to‑duty and post‑accident testing as required.
