Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.

Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.

Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.

Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.

Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers get the products they want and need.

Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.

Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions.

Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment.

Properly prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.

Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.

Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.

Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.

Understand store layout and locate products when requested by customers.

Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.

Gain knowledge of products sold within the department to respond to questions and make suggestions.

Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.

Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained; keep temperature logs.

Promote trust and respect among associates.

Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions about products.

Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.

Reinforce safety programs, comply with safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions.

Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.

Report customer or employee accidents to management.

Work cooperatively in high-paced and stressful environments.

Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.

Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Knowledge of basic math
Ability to obtain a current food handlers permit once employed
