Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers as a Cashier/Checker.Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management of incidents or issues.Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.Create a welcoming environment, making customers feel valued by answering questions about products.Follow all local, state, federal laws, and company guidelines.Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.Follow directions and seek assistance when resolving customer and business issues.Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
