The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Licensed Vocational Nurse I/II to join their Emergency Department team in Moreno Valley.
Under supervision and direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or physician, performs nursing duties within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing in the care of patients in the Acute Care or Emergency Department; and performs other related duties as required. This position is for a charge capture role, not patient care, where the incumbent will be in an office entering charges from previous ED visits in an EHR.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is not an independent practitioner. Licensed vocational nurses in this class have one or more years of experience working as an LVN. Per diem personnel are distinguished from regular employees in that they receive additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits and work assignments are flexibly scheduled or on an on‑call basis.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse I - Per Diem is distinguished from the Licensed Vocational Nurse II - Per Diem in that the latter have one year or more of nursing experience. The Licensed Vocational Nurse I - Per Diem is distinguished from the class of Nursing Assistant - Per Diem in that a state license is required of incumbents of Licensed Vocational Nurse I - Per Diem positions and they perform a more highly skilled form of nursing care.
Positions in this class are distinguished from the Licensed Vocational Nurse I - Per Diem level in that the latter perform work in clinic assignments with the Department of Mental Health, Community Health Agency or the Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC). Licensed Vocational Nurse II - Per Diem incumbents are either permanently assigned to work in an acute care assignment or they have full‑time responsibility for directing and supervising staff and operations of a clinic.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse II - Per Diem is distinguished from the class of Nursing Assistant - Per Diem in that a state license is required of incumbents assigned to the former class and they perform a more highly skilled form of patient care.
- Billing, coding, and/or charge capture experience
- California Vocational Nurse's License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- ACLS
- PALS

Work Schedule:Either 9/80 or 6/12/8; incumbents will have the opportunity to self‑schedule, will be discussed during interview process.
Per Diem Salary Range:- Licensed Vocational Nurse I: $40.1876/hour
- Licensed Vocational Nurse II: $42.5261/hour
