Overview
The Riverside University Health System, (RUHS), is recruiting for an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager-MC/CHC for multiple Medical/Surgical units. The Assistant Nurse Manager – MC/CHC is a supervisory level position reporting to the Executive Director. This role involves supervising and coordinating operations and programs within assigned nursing units. The scope includes all aspects of nursing care, 24 hours a day, for multiple inpatient nursing units or high-volume outpatient units.
The focus of this position is unit-based Telemetry, Med/Surge, Float Pool, IMCU overflow, and Cath Lab/Neuro/Vascular interventions once admitted to the medical-surgical unit.

- Promote collaboration among departments, units, programs, and physicians; represent assigned unit(s) or program(s) in committee meetings.
- Assist in candidate recruiting, training, promotion, and termination activities; monitor performance of nursing staff and provide feedback.
- Develop policies and procedures, standards of care and practice, and monitor nursing care to ensure compliance with Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, and other regulatory standards.
- Advise staff on interpretation and application of agency policies, laws, and regulations.
- Support the Clinical Director of Nursing Services I/II in planning, coordinating, and supervising the work of nursing personnel for multiple units/programs.
- Coordinate in-service educational programs and staff meetings; assist preceptors in developing unit orientation programs for new nurses or program staff.
- Prepare administrative records, reports, and correspondence related to budget and unit/program operations.
- Promote reliability in acuity classification of patients and serve as a working charge nurse or supervisor as needed.
- Instruct organized in-service nursing courses and conduct orientation for new nursing personnel; participate in evaluating and revising instruction and nursing practices.
- Perform direct nursing care services as needed and educate staff to support evidence-based practices.
- Facilitate assignments that support learning for orientees or nurse learners and monitor clinical competencies during patient care events.
- Provide unit coordinator oversight to ensure staffing needs/assignments are met according to workload, staff competency, and scope of practice.
- Education: Successful completion of education required to obtain a valid RN license in California. A bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
- Experience: Three years as a registered nurse, including at least one year as charge nurse or in a lead capacity.
- Knowledge: Nursing process, full range of RN duties, supervision and training principles, basic management, and problem-solving.
- Ability: Plan, organize, supervise, and evaluate nursing services; communicate effectively; manage change and conflict; interpret licensure and accreditation standards; develop policies; implement the nursing process.
- A current and valid RN license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
- A current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, issued by the American Heart Association.
- A current and valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, issued by the American Heart Association.
- A current and valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- A current and valid Oncology certification within 6 months of hire date (if selected).
- Work Schedule:
4/10 schedule, - Will work as the Telemetry, Med/Surge, IMCU overflow, Float Pool and Cath Lab, Neuro and Vascular post-patient care monitoring team Educator.
