NURSE MANAGER - ICU
Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager role encompasses patient-focused management, personnel management and development, business administration of the unit, collaborative and team partnerships, and participation in nursing and hospital committees.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Responsible for high-quality care with positive patient outcomes.
· Responsible for implementing and evaluating approved policies, procedures, and standards of care necessary for coordinating and delivering excellent patient-focused care.
· Collaborates with the registered nurse, physician, other health care professionals, and assistive personnel to plan care delivery on the unit and create joint protocols for patient care.
· Promotes an environment sensitive to the culturally diverse needs of patients and employees.
· Evaluates the outcomes of patient care; use patient satisfaction information to recommend and integrate appropriate changes.
· Interviews, hires, and evaluates unit-based staff.
· Manages and supervises direct patient care providers and assistive and support personnel in the patient care unit.
· Applies the unit budget and meets financial targets; uses data to evaluate LOS, HPWI, etc., to balance resource expenditures with workload.
· Promotes, develops, and evaluates processes and systems for patient care; advocates for resources and systems improvements when necessary.
· Accountable for compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
· Directs day-to-day activities of unit-based staff.
· Conducts daily leadership rounds and patient care rounds.
· Reviews the appropriate use of equipment, supplies, and physical facilities; holds staff accountable for safe and efficient practice.
· Continually evaluates quality and safety performance, identifies improvement opportunities, and plans and implements programs for improvement.
· Collaborates with community health organizations to achieve positive outcomes and enhance the hospital’s community presence.
Education:
Associate's Degree (ADN) required;
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required within two years of hire date
Experience:
5 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting required;
Management experience preferred
Licensure/Certification:
Valid license with the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN)
Specialty certification required within 3 years
