  • Salary: $39,284.88 - $58,927.20 annually

    Eligible for Overtime Pay; 37.5 hrs/week
Job Overview

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is committed to serving juveniles across the Commonwealth. In this role, you will maintain the DJJ facilities and support the team with safety, security, and operational excellence. The position requires leadership, reliability, and the ability to manage both staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance of DJJ facilities and grounds.
  • Inspect and repair equipment, complete preventative maintenance, and develop maintenance plans.
  • Order parts/supplies, maintain inventory records.
  • Conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspections of facility, equipment, and grounds.
  • Request and oversee contract services; manage outside vendor repairs.
  • Supervise maintenance staff and juveniles on projects; conduct employee performance evaluations.
  • Develop work schedules.
  • Maintain basic activity records.
  • Coordinate safety, sanitation, and security with fire and safety personnel.
  • Interpret and enforce policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements

Education: High school graduate.

Experience, Training, or

Skills:

Minimum five years in building/grounds maintenance, general or skilled trades, or mechanical maintenance. Must include records-keeping and some supervisory responsibility.

Substitutions: Formal training can substitute for experience (1:1); experience can substitute for education (1:1).

None.

Working Conditions

May be exposed to extreme temperatures; must follow safety procedures. On-call 24/7. Probationary period: initial and promotional probation of 6 months per KRS 18A.111.
