The History, Philosophy, Politics, Global Studies & Legal Studies department at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Visiting Assistant Professor, Legal Studies and Business Law. The anticipated start date is August 10, 2026.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide range of outdoor recreation activities. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach undergraduate courses in Legal Studies and Business Law in the Caudill College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and the Elmer R. Smith College of Business and Technology, General Education and First Year Seminar courses as needed. The Visiting Assistant Professor teaches 24 credit hours per year.

Responsible for activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to,
1) advising students,
2) holding regular office hours,
3) attending department, college, and university functions and meetings,
4) student recruitment and retention,
5) mentoring student organizations,
6) actively participating in program reviews, curriculum development, program assessment, and other department, college, and university service. Visiting Assistant Professors are expected to provide at least 15% of their duties to student success service duties.

REQUIREMENTS:
Ph.

D. in an area closely related to Legal Studies/Law from an accredited institution in the individual's discipline, as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, or JD from a law school approved by the ABA.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Documented practice experience with employment law, FMLA, Title IX, or ADA.

Experience with secondary school law for teaching relevant courses in an

Ed.D program. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with prior experience teaching constitutional law and employment law or who have prior experience representing institutions of higher education in matters related to employment law.
