Booth Welsh are looking for a Graduate Procurement Engineer to work with our team in Heysham 2.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Engineer to join a team at the heart of supporting continued safe and efficient operation of a nuclear power station whilst also working on Defueling Projects.
You will bring sound engineering knowledge and judgement to play a key role in managing the station's spare parts requirements, ensuring fit-for-purpose procurement of components, and maintaining compliance with engineering and quality assurance standards.
The Role
As a Procurement Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Specifying and evaluating nuclear power station spares against original design intent.
- Supporting the upkeep and integrity of the plant Spares Catalogue.
- Developing procurement specifications in collaboration with Technical Specialists and Purchasers.
- Maintaining compliance with all standards and procedures applicable to plant spares procurement.
- Completing Item Equivalency Assessments to support changes in component selection.
- Assisting with technical investigations, including parts sourcing and resolving obsolescence issues.
- Conducting Quality Assurance (QA) reviews prior to purchasing QA1/2 spares, including reviewing and developing Quality Plans.
- Performing Quality Control (QC) inspections on key goods being supplied.
- Advising Purchasing and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth operation of Supply Chain processes.
The Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A minimum of HNC in an engineering discipline, ideally with Electrical or Control & Instrumentation or Mechanical bias (though broader engineering knowledge will also be considered).
- Strong working knowledge of technical and quality assurance standards related to the procurement of spare parts.
- Experience in engineering specification and component evaluation.
- Familiarity with obsolescence management and quality control/assurance processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical, commercial, and warehouse functions.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to offer insight and challenge constructively where required.
