Responsibilities- Teach and lead the Integrated English and Publishing degree emphasis;
The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that would include Introduction to Publishing, Literary Editing, and Practicum in Publishing. - Teach general composition and other undergraduate courses in at least two of these areas: literature, creative writing, or one other area within English.
- Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various modalities commensurate with department and university needs.
- Engage in scholarly research or creative endeavors to enhance knowledge of field.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
- Contribute to student growth and development including student academic advising,
- Support Minnesota State University Moorhead’s strategic priority of creating a campus community that is diverse, inclusive, globally aware, and just.
- Advise student writing and publishing groups.
- Teach a load of 12 credit hours per semester or 24 credits per academic year.
- Serve on university committees or other service to the university and community.
- Ongoing engagement in activities intended to help close educational equity gaps.
$64,963-$188,620 annually.
Minimum Qualifications- Terminal degree in English at the time of hiring.
- Experience in a supervisory or administrative role in literary and/or academic publishing.
- Demonstrated ability to teach courses including Introduction to Publishing, Literary Editing, and Practicum in Publishing
- Ability to develop and lead the Integrated English and Publishing degree emphasis.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach English courses at the university level.
- Demonstrated commitment to diverse, equitable, and inclusive pedagogy, and an ability to work successfully with students, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds, including sensitivity to their needs and concerns.
- Experience with teaching publishing courses and/or experience in supervising student publications.
- Ability to integrate Digital Humanities pedagogy into English and Publishing courses.
- Area of specialization in English, including Creative Writing.
- Demonstrated success in Grant Writing.
- Two years teaching experience in higher education as primary instructor prior to this application.
- Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with other academic programs on campus.
- The successful candidate must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States by the day employment begins. The University regrets that we are unable to offer H1-B sponsorship at this time.
- The candidate will be required to teach twelve credits per semester with the possibility of four separate course preparations per semester.
- Official transcript(s) from all degree granting institutions must be provided to the Office of Human Resources prior to first duty day.
- In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, faculty and staff driving on college/university business, who use a rental or state vehicle, shall be required to complete a vehicle Use Agreement form and conform to Minnesota State College and Universities vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check.
