Perform a variety of routine duties in a hospital clinic to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients; set up and clean examination rooms. Obtain and record data for medical records, collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, undress, cleanse, and position patients for specific procedures. Perform routine examination and treatment procedures, including administering enemas, removing casts, cleaning wounds, applying medications and dressings.
Set up and clean examination rooms, including changing linen and making beds; set up instruments and equipment for specific procedures; hand instruments, supplies, and equipment to the examining physician. Pick up and deliver specimens, equipment, messages, and supplies as directed; maintain inventory of supplies in examination rooms, replenish as required. Escort and transport patients to various hospital locations; schedule patient appointments and prepare related records.
Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition; wash and sterilize a variety of medical supplies. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred. High School diploma or GED graduation required.
ExperienceWork generally requires six months of experience in the healthcare setting. Education in a health‑related field can be used as a substitute for the experience.
Certifications & LicensuresMust be fully certified as a Medical Assistant (AAMA, AMT, NHA‑CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA) within 18 months of hire.
