Allergy Technician – Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates, P.A. (CEENTA)
Primary ObjectiveThe Allergy Technician serves as the primary clinical support to allergy patients by delivering high‑quality, safe, effective and compassionate allergy testing, immunotherapy, and treatment services.
Essential Functions- Greet and room patients.
- Prepare and administer allergy tests.
- Prepare and administer subcutaneous allergy injections.
- Monitor patient reactions to antigen doses and adjust dosing as appropriate.
- Mix and prepare allergenic extract doses for subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy.
- Document encounters in the EHR system.
- Enter charges for allergy services in the EHR.
- Schedule allergy appointments in the EHR.
- Place orders for allergy vials promptly.
- Perform blood draws for labs and radioallergosorbent (RAST) testing.
- Recognize anaphylactic symptoms and administer appropriate emergency care.
- Communicate financial information to patients.
- Explain testing procedures, train patients on home injections, and provide educational information.
- Respond to patient questions via phone or EHR messaging.
- Maintain logs of emergency medication expiration dates.
- Create dilutions for testing.
- Administer and read tuberculin skin tests (TST) for CEENTA employees.
- Serve as a resource and trainer for new employees.
- Maintain applicable work queues in the EHR.
- Index reports and documentation from the document management system to the EHR.
- Collaborate with providers, managers, and supervisors.
- Maintain OSHA standards for a safe environment.
- Maintain and order clinical supplies.

Clinical Competencies- Administer injections.
- Draw blood.
- Measure and mix ingredients accurately.
- Maintain annual allergy competencies and USP 797 sterile compounding standards.
- Corporate Epic training.
- 6‑week to 3‑month on‑the‑job training with the Allergy team.
- Post‑training check‑ins and audits.

Qualifications EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred: graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of an approved route via American Medical Technologists, or equivalent certification.
Experience- Three or more years of relevant clinical allergy experience preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
- LPN, RN, Pharmacy Tech, Certified Phlebotomist, or Associate’s/Bachelor’s in Science acceptable in lieu of CMA or RMA.
- Five years of recent allergy experience accepted in lieu of certifications.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
The Allergy Technician works in a multi‑specialty clinic with high patient volume, exposing them to contagious diseases and requiring PPE sonable accommodations may be made.
SupervisionReports to the Operations Supervisor, Allergy, with clinical oversight from ENT providers and administrative direction from operations management.
Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkFull‑time, core hours Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., subject to variation based on clinic needs.
