Join to apply for the Sterile Processing Technician, Certified role at Duke University Health System. This position is with Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina, a Duke Health facility with 123 beds offering 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.
Responsibilities- Clean, decontaminate, assemble, and disinfect reusable medical instrumentation and scope trays following established tray lists and manufacturers' instructions.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure a smooth flow of sterile products between the OR and Sterile Processing.
- Maintain adequate supply levels in sterile storage, rotate stock, and pull case carts for the daily surgical schedule.
- Operate the computerized instrument tracking system: obtain instrument count sheets, apply special handling instructions, document sterilization loads, and perform other assigned tasks.
- Promote quality patient care by supporting unit safety and cleanliness; perform quality control checks and emergency equipment inspections as required.
- Distribute case carts, equipment, and stat supplies to the OR and other units in a timely, efficient manner; maintain sterility and cleanliness per hospital protocol.
- Maintain accurate logs for equipment out for repair and assist with training of new hires or act as a resource for other staff.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Employees hired before 2/18/19 are not required to have a high school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
No experience required beyond certification. - Certifications:
Certification as CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRST (HSPA) is required. - Essential Physical
